The gift of life...

24 / 01 / 2012

For university I had to design three highly creative spectacular sized billboards that promote the Australian Organ Donor Register. I am not an organ donor myself, I never really liked the idea of someone cutting me up after I had passed away and letting parts of myself live on through other people. BUT, my views were drastically changed after doing this assignment.

Did you know that....
- In January 2011 there were over 110,000 people waiting for an organ transplant ?
One organ and tissue donor can save the lives of up to ten people and significantly improve the lives of dozens more?
- Around 1700 people are on Australian organ transplant waiting lists at any one time?

These statistics amazed me. I never knew that one person could save up to 10 people and improve the lives of dozens more. It's incredible the things we take for granted sometimes.

These are my 3 designs:

I went for a simple design that would have a high impact. The design shows someone that has passed away giving their organ to someone who needs it.

Give someone the gift of life today!

LOVE YOUR LIFE...

21 / 01 / 2012

Here are some typographic designs I did recently. They were designed as a declaration of policies to live by! All positive aspects for people to reflect on! Be yourself, follow your dreams and most importantly - be happy.

Colour me beautiful...

13 / 01 / 2012

I never really liked painting, I actually hated it.
Drawing and watercolour were my thing - not painting.

It wasn't until recently that I actually quite enjoy it! For an elective subject at uni I chose to do a painting course because it seemed 'easy.' I was so wrong. We learnt drawing techniques and painting techniques and I really enjoyed it and it was very challenging at the same time.

I started off painting for peoples presents:

I love this one, very simple but effective.
It was my first ever painting on canvas, and was a
mothers day present for Tracy.

This was my second painting on canvas. It was a challenge but
I got there in the end! This was a Christmas present for Tracy.

I love birds, especially toucans - they're so colourful.
This was a present for Rich, he loves Toucans too!

I was then encouraged to sell some. I thought that would be easy, you know - paint something and then sell it! But the more time I spent on it, the more I loved it, the less I wanted to sell it! I now understand why some artists charge ridiculous amounts of money for their work!

My Pelican painting for sale!

So I took my beloved Pelican off to Coffee Grind cafe, with a reasonable price of $250 (reasonable compared to the other painting prices in there.) So hopefully he sells soon before I get even more attached haha!
